Delta has Wi-Fi on most of its planes. It is free if you join SkyMiles, and joining costs nothing. The free service is called Delta Sync. T-Mobile pays for it, but you do not need a T-Mobile phone plan.
Join on the ground, before the door closes. The seat is a poor place to make a new password. This page covers how to connect, which planes still charge, and what to do if you are flying to a cruise. The plane Wi-Fi stops when you land. The ship starts a new bill.
Is Delta Wi-Fi free in 2026?
Yes, for SkyMiles members, on the planes with Delta Sync. Delta says that is more than 1,200 aircraft. Any member counts. You do not need Medallion status. A new account with zero miles is enough. You can join from the seat, but I still do it at home.
It works on your phone, your laptop and a tablet at the same time. On a good day you can watch a film, send WhatsApp and check mail. A short T-Mobile advert may play before you are fully on. Let it finish.
Most flights to Europe, Latin America and Africa already have it. Flights across the Pacific are still being finished. If the film matters, download it anyway.
How much is Delta Wi-Fi?
Zero if you joined and the plane has Delta Sync. If you refuse to join, that same fast Wi-Fi is often about $5 for the flight. The older system, still on some planes, is priced by the route and can run from $10 to $40. There is no point paying that when the club is free.

The plane is the cheap part. The ship is the part that hurts.
You do not need T-Mobile
Delta Sync is “presented by T-Mobile.” That is a sponsor line. It is not a gate. Anyone with a SkyMiles number can use the free Wi-Fi. I have watched people hunt for a T-Mobile button they do not need.
The only time your phone company matters is on an older plane that still sells a paid pass. On those, T-Mobile customers can often get on without paying. On Delta Sync, SkyMiles is the door.
How to connect to Delta Wi-Fi
- 1Turn on airplane mode. Then turn Wi-Fi back on. Leave mobile data off.
- 2Join the network named DeltaWiFi.com. Pick the one without a lock.
- 3Open a browser. If the page does not pop up, type DeltaWiFi.com.
- 4Sign in with SkyMiles. Or join for free from the seat.
- 5Let the short advert finish. You are not fully on until it ends.
Turn off a VPN and iCloud Private Relay. Use Safari or Chrome, not the browser inside Instagram. Doors-closed is when the Wi-Fi usually comes up. If you try at the gate, it may still be quiet.

Amazon Leo is 2028, not this flight
Delta plans to fit about 500 planes with Amazon Leo starting in 2028. That is a newer satellite system, and it should stay free for SkyMiles members. It is not on your boarding pass today. Today you are on Delta Sync, or on an older plane that still wants a card.
Delta Wi-Fi not working
- Airplane mode on, then Wi-Fi. Mobile data off.
- Type DeltaWiFi.com yourself.
- VPN off. Private Relay off.
- Try a private browser window.
- Wait until the doors are closed. Some planes come up late.
- If the page asks for a card on a Sync flight, join SkyMiles instead of paying.
How it compares
Delta was early to free-if-you-join. JetBlue still gives it to everyone, with no club. United is free only when the plane has Starlink, and $8 or $10 on the rest. Southwest is the same club trick for $8 if you skip it. Frontier has no Wi-Fi at all.
