On supported ships, yes — maritime cellular at sea, US/Canada towers in port, on Cruise & Americas. Search the ship. Glacier days have no land towers.
Do I still need MedallionNet?
For the ship’s own app life and cabin streaming, maybe. For WhatsApp and maps, the eSIM is usually enough.
