Updated 17 October 2026. Wi-Fi prices are typical 2026 rates. Type your ship in the GigSky app before you pay.
Hurtigruten Wi-Fi. Hurtigruten Wi-Fi is free on the ship. It can be slow, and it is a bad fit for films. If you booked a Basic fare, or a port-to-port ticket, join the free 1893 club first. A fuller fare already includes it. The signal stays on the ship. Maps ashore are a separate job.
Hurtigruten gives you Wi-Fi on the ship. You do not buy a day pass on a normal fare. The coast is remote. The signal drops in places, and it is slower the further north you go. Mail and WhatsApp are the realistic job. A film is not.
There is one catch. If you booked the Basic fare, or you are only sailing port to port, the free Wi-Fi stays locked until you join the 1893 club. Joining is free. Do it before you board if that is your ticket. A fuller fare already includes the Wi-Fi. You should not pay twice.
This is the coastal voyage, Bergen up the Norwegian coast and back. It is not a big Caribbean ship, and it is not Havila. The Wi-Fi ends when you step onto the quay. In a small port you still want your own phone for a map.
Basic fare, do this first
Open the Hurtigruten app or the booking and join 1893 if your ticket is Basic or port to port. It costs nothing. Without it, the free Wi-Fi does not open.
Everyone else can just connect. If the cabin is dead, go up on deck. The lounge is often better than a lower room.
The coastal ships
Type the ship. Kong Harald, Nordkapp, Nordnorge, Nordlys, Polarlys, Richard With, or Vesterålen. A Norway week wants Cruise & Europe.
Do not type Havila. That is a different line. If GigSky does not list the ship, stop. Maya is the backup, code ESIMTWEAKS10.
When ship Wi-Fi still wins
Use the free ship Wi-Fi for mail and WhatsApp. Do not buy a pack, and do not expect a film in the far north.
When the Hurtigruten eSIM wins
You want a map in port, or a second phone that does not depend on a weak cabin signal. That is the Hurtigruten eSIM. Code ESIMDUDE is 10% off GigSky. The ship Wi-Fi is already free.

Hurtigruten eSIM FAQ
Is Hurtigruten Wi-Fi free?
Yes on a normal fare. On a Basic fare, or a port-to-port ticket, you need the free 1893 club first. Then it is included.
Can you stream on Hurtigruten?
Do not count on it. The ships sail remote water. Mail and messages are the realistic use. Films often will not play.
Is Hurtigruten the same as Havila?
No. Havila is a different coastal line. Search the Hurtigruten ship on your ticket.
Does a Hurtigruten eSIM work at sea?
A normal travel eSIM dies about 12 miles out. A GigSky cruise plan works on ships GigSky lists, then on local towers in port. Search the ship by name.
What is the Hurtigruten eSIM coupon?
ESIMDUDE. Ten percent off GigSky cruise and ferry plans. It does not change the free ship Wi-Fi.
